I read some of the comments on blogs that have written about the Mutewatch. The most common negative comment by far is “Don’t we all have a vibrating alarm on our cell phone nowadays?”. I think many still people find it a mystery how our product is connected to time management.
So why do we believe it’s bad for your productivity to use your cell phone for everything? Well, there are many studies on the brain and concentration and many of them comes to the conclusion that it takes time, sometimes 10 to 20 minutes, to fully focus on something. In society today, we are interrupted every 8th minutes on average. It will be interesting to see what will happen when people realise that one of the main benefits of the Mutewatch is that it makes it possible to put away your full-of-distractions-smartphone and focus on whatever is important to you at that moment.
PS. The reason why the Mutewatch came to be was the fact that it’s impossible to wear your cell phone while sleeping - even if your cell phone might have a silent alarm it won’t help you to wake up silently.
